Quick answer

Starter Pokémon in Cobblemon are biome-target hunts. You do not usually find them by checking one magic coordinate. Pick the correct biome family, make a clean loop, keep the chunks active, and let new spawns roll in.

The best live routes on this site are Charmander in dry desert/mesa-style terrain, Squirtle around beaches and rivers, Mudkip in swamps, Froakie around warm freshwater, Sprigatito in floral biomes, and Fuecoco in badlands-style routes.

Starter hunting route planner

The fastest way to find starters is to hunt by terrain family. This gives players a route instead of a vague “it spawns somewhere” answer.

🔥

Fire starter routes

  • Charmander: dry, open desert/mesa-style terrain during daylight.
  • Fuecoco: Badlands first, Nether Wasteland as an alternate route.
  • Litten: jungle-style routes with no rain, not generic desert terrain.
💧

Water starter routes

  • Squirtle: beach, river and shoreline patrols.
  • Mudkip: swamp and mangrove swamp waterlines.
  • Froakie: warm freshwater, jungle water and bamboo water.
  • Sobble: swamp, jungle and freshwater-style routes.
🌿

Grass starter routes

  • Sprigatito: floral biome groups such as meadows, flower forests and cherry-style routes.
  • For other Grass starters, start with lush, forest, meadow and floral terrain on servers where those starter families are available.
  • Grass starters are easy to miss in tall vegetation, so use open floral edges where visibility is better.

Best starters to prioritise

Not every starter hunt gives the same payoff. These are the ones I would push first for a new survival world or a long-term team.

How to actually find starters faster

Starter spawns can feel brutal when you stand still. Use the route like a spawn engine instead.

1. Pick one biome family

Do not bounce between random biomes every two minutes. Choose the correct route for the starter you want, then commit to that loop long enough for spawns to cycle.

2. Use visible terrain

Open edges beat dense clutter. River bends, swamp edges, badlands ridges, meadow borders and sparse jungle edges are better than thick forests where tiny starters hide.

3. Keep moving

Patrol a repeatable loop instead of camping one block. Starters are often rare enough that movement, spawn refresh and visibility matter more than luck.

Starter locations FAQ

Where is the best place to find starter Pokémon in Cobblemon?

The best place depends on the starter. Charmander is a dry terrain hunt, Squirtle is a shoreline/water-edge hunt, Mudkip is a swamp hunt, Froakie is a warm freshwater hunt, Litten is a jungle/no-rain hunt, Sprigatito is a floral-biome hunt, and Fuecoco is a badlands-style hunt.

Are starter Pokémon ultra-rare?

Several modern starter hunts are ultra-rare in the available guide data, especially Mudkip, Froakie, Litten, Sobble, Sprigatito and Fuecoco. Treat them as route-based hunts rather than quick catches.

Should I search by type or by biome?

Search by biome first. Type helps you understand the theme, but biome tags and terrain families are what make the hunt practical.

Why can I not find the starter even in the right biome?

You may be dealing with low rarity, weather restrictions, poor visibility, server spawn changes, or a version/modpack difference. Use a wider loop, check the individual guide, and make sure that starter family is enabled on your server.
