Quick Answer
Fire types spawn almost entirely in hot, dry biomes — desert, mesa, badlands and savanna during the day. A handful appear in nether biomes. Charmander is the exception: it spawns in savanna and sparse jungle, not desert. If you want the widest selection, a mesa or badlands biome during daytime is where to start.
How Fire Type Spawning Works
Cobblemon ties fire type spawns tightly to biome temperature. Hot, arid biomes — desert, mesa, badlands, savanna — are where the majority of fire types appear. The logic mirrors the mainline games: you won't find Vulpix in a frozen tundra, and in Cobblemon you genuinely won't.
Most fire types are daytime spawns only. Ghost/Fire dual types like Litwick are the main exception — they spawn underground at any time. If you're hunting fire types and getting nothing, check the time of day first.

Best Biomes for Fire Type Hunting
Where you go matters as much as when. Here's the breakdown:
The desert and its variants hold the highest concentration of fire types. Vulpix, Houndour, Darumaka, Salandit and Charcadet all spawn here. Mesa is especially good — it also pulls in rarer entries like Turtonator and Magcargo. If you only visit one biome, make it mesa.
Savanna is the go-to for fire starter lines. Charmander, Growlithe, Cyndaquil, Torchic, Litleo and Fuecoco all spawn here during the day. Usually easier to reach early game than desert and gives you the most team-building options quickly.
Magby and Magmar are the main draws. They're extremely rare overworld but spawn at a decent rate in Nether Wastes and Basalt Deltas. If you need the Magmar line and can access the Nether, this is far more efficient than surface hunting.
