Quick Answer
Electric types are one of the more accessible types overall — most spawn in open biomes like plains and savanna with no time restriction. Pikachu and Shinx are the most common starting points. During thunderstorms, several electric types get a significant spawn rate boost — if you're specifically hunting rare electrics, wait for a storm. Morpeko and Jolteon are the ones worth hunting in clear weather; Electrode and Raichu are best chased in storms.
How Electric Type Spawning Works
Electric types follow a simpler pattern than most other types — no night restriction, no depth requirement, no specific rare biome needed for most of them. Plains, savanna and flower forest biomes during any time of day will produce a consistent spread of electric types.
The standout mechanic for electric types is the thunderstorm boost. When it's actively raining and thundering in-game, several electric types see their spawn weight increase noticeably. This includes Electrode, Electabuzz, Jolteon and Rotom. If you're struggling to find a specific rare electric, trigger or wait for a storm.
A few electric types break the pattern — Magnemite spawns in mountains and cave entrances near iron ore, and Rotom spawns underground near lava. These two require different strategies from the rest of the type.

Best Biomes for Electric Type Hunting
Plains and savanna are the core electric type biomes. Pikachu, Shinx, Voltorb, Dedenne, Electrike, Toxel and Morpeko all spawn here at consistent rates. During a thunderstorm, Raichu, Electrode, Electabuzz and Jolteon join the pool. If you can only go to one biome, plains during a storm covers the majority of the type.
Magnemite is the outlier in the electric type — it spawns in mountains and near cave entrances rather than open plains. Magneton appears at higher altitudes. If you need the Magnemite line specifically, head to a mountain biome rather than plains.
Flower forest is the best spot for Dedenne, Plusle and Minun — they're rare in standard plains but appear more frequently in flower forests. Worth knowing if you specifically need any of these three.
