Quick Answer
Dragon types have no shared biome — each line spawns somewhere different. Dratini is in rivers and is the easiest to find. Bagon is in mountainous biomes. Axew spawns in extreme hills. Gible needs desert and mesa. There's no single "dragon biome" to farm — you need to know which dragon you want and go to that specific location.
How Dragon Type Spawning Works
Dragon types are uniquely scattered in Cobblemon — unlike fire types that cluster in desert, or ghost types that pack into caves, each dragon line has its own dedicated biome that doesn't overlap much with the others. This makes dragon hunting a planning exercise rather than a brute-force one.
There's also no time-of-day restriction on any dragon type, which is a small mercy. Whenever you arrive at the right biome, you can start hunting. The challenge is travel time, not waiting.
Dragon types are also generally on the rare to very rare end of the spawn weight scale. Even in the right biome, you won't see them constantly — expect to spend more time per catch than you would hunting common types.

Where to Find Each Dragon Line
Since dragon types don't share a biome, here's the breakdown by line — what you want, where to go:
Dratini is the most accessible dragon type in the game. Any river or lake biome will produce them at an uncommon rate, and they spawn at any time of day. Follow a river for a few hundred blocks and you'll find one. Dragonite is a very rare surface spawn in the same water biomes.
Both Bagon and Axew favour mountainous terrain, though they're slightly different — Bagon prefers Stony Peaks and bare mountains, while Axew does better in Windswept Hills and Extreme Hills variants. Both are daytime spawns. If you're in any mountainous biome during the day and not seeing either, check which specific mountain variant you're in.
Mesa and badlands are the most dragon-dense biome in the game. Gible spawns here as an uncommon, Turtonator as a rare, and Garchomp as a very rare. If you're hunting dragons and can reach a mesa biome, it's the most efficient single location — you get three different dragon lines in one place.
Goomy spawns in swamp and mangrove swamp biomes, and Dreepy appears in ocean biomes — both are any-time spawns. These are two of the more surprising dragon locations and ones players often overlook when hunting.
