Riding was added in Cobblemon v1.7 Native Pokémon riding launched with v1.7 — you can now mount Pokémon directly from your party without any addon. Some Pokémon support land travel, some water, some flying, and a few support multiple. The Ride On addon extends this to the full Pokémon roster.

How to Ride a Pokémon

Riding works directly from your party — no saddle, no special item, no crafting required. As long as the Pokémon supports riding it's immediately available once it's in your party.

1
Have a rideable Pokémon in your party

Any Pokémon from the list below will work. It doesn't need to be a specific level — just caught and in your party.

2
Send it out — then mount it

Throw your Pokémon out into the world as normal. Then walk up to it and press Right-click (or your interact key) to mount. Your character will sit on the Pokémon automatically.

3
Control it like a mount

WASD to move, Space to jump (land mounts) or ascend (flying mounts). Flying Pokémon let you soar over terrain. Water mounts let you move through water at full speed without drowning.

4
Dismount with Shift

Hold Shift to dismount. Your Pokémon stays out in the world — recall it with your Pokéball or let it follow you.

💡
Flying mounts require open sky You can only fly outdoors — flying mounts can't take off underground or inside enclosed spaces. Make sure you're under open sky before mounting a flying Pokémon or it'll walk instead of flying.

Travel Types Explained

🏃
Land
Faster than walking, can sprint and jump. Best for general overworld travel across open terrain.
14
🌊
Water
Full speed in water, no drowning damage. Essential for ocean exploration and crossing rivers fast.
10
🦅
Flying
Full 3D movement over any terrain. The best travel type for long distances and reaching hard-to-access areas.
8
Multi-mode
Supports two or more travel types — like Lapras which handles both water and land. Rarest and most valuable mounts.
