Berries grow on trees that spawn naturally throughout the world. You can replant them by breaking the berry tree (not harvesting) which has a 10% chance to drop a seed. Plant seeds on farmland like saplings, and optionally use bone meal to speed growth.
Plant two different berry trees adjacent to each other on farmland and they will eventually produce a mutation berry — a new species that neither parent was. There are 39 mutation berries in Cobblemon v1.7.1, all requiring specific parent combinations.
