⭐ Type Guide · Cobblemon v1.7.1

Where Do Normal Type Pokémon Spawn?

Normal types are the most widespread in Cobblemon — they turn up on plains, in forests, around villages, on beaches and even inside caves. They're the backbone of early-game encounters, and hiding among them are some of the most valuable Pokémon in the game like Eevee and Chansey.

Quick Answer

🌾 Plains 🌲 Forests 🏘️ Villages 30 Normal Types Total

Normal types are the most common type you'll encounter in Cobblemon. Plains, forests and villages are loaded with them at all hours. Common encounters like Rattata, Zigzagoon and Bidoof appear almost everywhere. For the rarer and more valuable normals like Eevee, Chansey or Snorlax, you'll need specific biomes and a bit of patience.

How Normal Type Spawning Works

Normal types are the most biome-agnostic type in the game — they spawn across nearly every environment. The main variable is which specific normal type appears, since each has preferred terrain. Rattata and Bidoof appear in almost any open area, while Eevee requires town edges and plains, and Chansey is tied to peaceful open biomes.

Unlike most types, normal types have a strong day/night split in terms of which species appear. Daytime plains give you Sentret, Aipom and Teddiursa. Return at night and the roster flips to Rattata, Meowth and Munchlax. It's worth running the same biome at both times if you want full normal type coverage.

🦊
Eevee is the most sought-after normal type Eevee is a rare spawn in plains biomes and near villages — and it's worth the hunt. With eight evolutions covering nearly every type, a well-natured Eevee is one of the most versatile catches in the game. Check plains edges near villages during the day for your best odds.
💡
Villages boost certain normal type spawn rates Meowth, Smeargle and Miltank-adjacent spawns all have elevated rates near villages and settlement terrain. If you're hunting specific normals that feel uncommon in the wild, find a village and work the surrounding area — you'll see those species more reliably.

Normal Types by Biome

Normal types appear almost everywhere, but certain biomes concentrate specific lines you can't easily find elsewhere.

🌾
Plains & Open Fields
Best overall variety — day and night

Plains biomes are the definitive normal type destination. During the day: Sentret, Zigzagoon, Bidoof, Lillipup, Wooloo, Minccino and Yungoos. At night: Rattata and Meowth dominate. Rarer daytime finds include Eevee, Chansey, Tauros and Miltank — all of which heavily prefer open plains over any other terrain.

🌲
Forests & Taiga
Teddiursa, Stantler, Skwovet, Slakoth

Forested biomes have a quieter but solid normal type roster. Teddiursa and Skwovet appear in berry-rich forests, Stantler roams taiga and snowy woodlands, and Slakoth hangs from jungle canopy trees. Munchlax also appears at night in berry-rich forest areas, making forests worth revisiting after dark.

🏘️
Villages & Settlement Terrain
Meowth at night, Eevee and Miltank nearby

Villages and the terrain around them are the best spots for key normal type targets. Meowth prowls villages at night, Eevee spawns on village outskirts during the day, and Miltank grazes nearby farmland. Smeargle also has elevated spawns near structures. If you need Eevee, start by locating a village and working the surrounding plains.

🌴
Jungle & Dense Forest
Slakoth, Slaking, Aipom

Jungle biomes host the lazier end of the normal type spectrum. Slakoth (and the rare fully-evolved Slaking) inhabit dense forest canopy areas. Aipom swings through jungle treetops during the day. Slaking is genuinely one of the highest base Attack Pokémon in the game despite its gimmick — worth catching a Slakoth and evolving.

🌾
Savanna & Warm Grassland
Tauros, Girafarig, Yungoos

Warmer, drier grassland biomes have a slightly different normal type roster. Tauros stampedes through savanna during the day, Girafarig grazes in warm open plains, and Yungoos is common across any warm open terrain. If you've exhausted standard plains and still need these, head to savanna variants.

Tips for Hunting Normal Types

Plains at dawn gives you the most overlap The transition between night and day on plains biomes lets you catch both nocturnal normals (Rattata, Meowth) and day spawns (Sentret, Zigzagoon, Bidoof) in the same short session. A quick plains run at dawn can tick off five or six normal type entries at once.
🦊
Eevee is rare but consistent near villages Eevee doesn't appear in every plains biome — it specifically favours areas near village structures. If you're on an empty plain with no luck, move closer to a settlement. The spawn rate isn't high, but it's reliable enough that a patient plains-and-village run will get you one eventually.
⚠️
Snorlax is one of the rarest normal spawns Snorlax can appear blocking roads and in plains clearings at any time of day, but it's genuinely uncommon. Most players encounter one by accident during extended exploration rather than by targeted hunting. Keep exploring open terrain and you'll find one — it's large enough to be hard to miss.
